FAYETTE COUNTY

All the descendants of Fayette County were descended from William Bobbitt a son of William and Susannah Bobbitt.

Just after this census was taken, Alin and Mary Bobbitt had a daughter named Sarah Bobbitt. Mary C. Bobbitt died between 1850 and 1857. Allan Bobbitt was a son of William and Margaret (Bartus) Bobbitt. We are not absolutely certain about the name of Margaret Bartus, but believe she was the first wife of William Bobbitt.

We do not know the maiden name of Frances Bobbitt. John was a son of William and Margaret (Bartus) Bobbitt. He lived his life in Alabama and died in 1895.

There are some mysteries about this family. They first appear in the 1850 census records although they have been living in Alabama since 1830. We are certain that he was a son of John and Mary Hazelwood Bobbitt.  (John 1762-1829). Brothers of John had moved to Tennessee before 1830 and we think that Naron is a nephew of James Bobbitt. James had relatives in Georgia and very likely met his wife while visiting in Georgia. James Bobbitt would be a first cousin to the
