This is all of the members of the Bobbitt family who were listed under the Bobbitt name. Unfortunately there were many other members of the family listed under other family names that have not been made a part of this record.
By 1850 many of the families who had lived in Kentucky were located in Missouri. Some had returned to Virginia, some had moved to other counties in Kentucky. By 1860 many of the families had moved to other sections of the country. In 1900 there were still Bobbitt families in Pulaski County.
Some of the moving to other areas was due to the industrial developments of the north. Some was caused by land grants and home offerings to get other states populated. As the years reach the period of the war between the states, many of these people felt they wanted to avoid taking sides in the war. Many of these families were divided and some fought on the Confederate side and some on the Union side. Few if any members of the same family were returned to see their relatives in Pulaski County or Grayson County.
Pulaski County Kentucky is one of the important centers in the study of the Bobbitt family.
