This is Stephen Bobbitt from Cheatham County Tennessee. He is a descendant of Stephen and Celah Bobbitt of Warren County North Carolina. His parents were Drury Richard Bobbitt and Elizabeth Bradley Bobbitt.

This family spelled their name as Bobbit in the 1840 census, as Boblett in the 1850 census, and as Bobbitt in the 1860 census. We cannot place the family, but believe that all Bobletts are part of our Bobbitt family who lived in various sections of Virginia before 1850.
We have made several attempts to study the Boblett families and invariably find them in locations where Bobbitt families live or have lived. The Boblett name is an easy corruption of the Bobbitt name and does not appear in many census records, although it was used in the early 1800's in some of the Virginia county records.
There are numerous Babbitt families in Franklin County, Kentucky. They all descend From Roswell Babbitt who was born in 1795 in Connecticut and are not part of our southern Bobbitt family. As stated many times in our family history we are sure that they are part of our family but not part of this study.
