Family # 43, counted August 6, 1850
Alexander Bobbitt was a son of Caleb and Nancy (Blair) Bobbitt of Grayson County, Virginia. He married Saphrona Coffey a widow with two children. We believe her maiden name was Samson and that the 20 year old Tyre Samson was her brother.
This completes the 1850 census of Kentucky. Unfortunately not all Bobbitt families were counted. We know of several who were missed but are grateful. for those counted and for this information contained in detail in the 1850 census.
We are of course missing the many families of Bobbitt daughters who were married and listed under their married names.
Many of the children listed in the 1850 census were listed in the 1880 census with families of their own. The 1900 census listed all families regardless of their ages or their children's ages. It is considered one of the most complete census records. We have listed all Bobbitt families of the 1900 census throughout the entire United States.
