Durill E. Bobbitt was a son of John and Margaret (Rush) Bobbitt. He was named in his father's will along with his brothers, John J. Bobbitt and William 0. Bobbitt. His sisters were Martha E. Brummett, Margaret B. Brumett, and Arabella E. Powell.

John J. Bobbitt was a brother of Durill Bobbitt. He is listed here with his first wife. On May 3, 1859 he married Polly A. Hunt, and Durill Bobbitt was the bondsman. The family lived in the family of Archibald and Arabella (Bobbitt) Powell. Later John and Polly had children, Ophelia Bobbitt 1852, William A. Bobbitt 1851,Albina Bobbitt 1854, Ethenore Bobbitt 1859, Margarett Bobbitt 1862, John W. Bobbitt 1864, Mary A. Bobbitt 1867, and Patty Bobbitt 1869. One of the great branches of the North Carolina Bobbitt family.
