Bobbitt Family Records WARREN COUNTY CONTINUED:
Family # 876, counted December 14, 1850, Warrenton District.
Margaret (Bobbitt) Dowtain was a twin to Alfred Bobbitt. We know that Alfred Bobbitt was counted two times in the 1850 census once in the family of Samuel Bobbitt and again in the family of Anthony Dowtain. Alfred Bobbitt did not marry. He was a brother to the wife of Samuel Bobbitt. Alfred, Margaret, and Martha were the children of John R. and Elizabeth (Darden) Bobbitt. John R. Bobbitt was a son of Randolph and Elizabeth (Harris) Bobbitt. The relationship of Samuel Bobbitt to his wife's mother is complicated. Samuel Bobbitt is a descendant of Lewis Bobbitt Senior who went to North Carolina in 1753. Margaret Bobbitt is a descendant of John Bobbitt of Chowan who went to North Carolina in about 1718. They were by 1850, distant cousins.
Family # 300, counted August 4, 1850, Warrenton District.
We believe that Polly Bobbitt was named Mary Martha Alston and that she married a William H. Bobbitt. We are not certain which William H. Bobbitt she married.
Family # 575, counted November 5, 1850, Warrenton District.
Rachel Bobbitt was a daughter of John and Patience (Harris) Bobbitt. She was a sister to Charles Harris Bobbitt. Rachel married Robert Myrick and her sister Ann married Hardy Myrick. It seems strange that she is listed alone in this census. Her husband was the executor of Patience Bobbitt's estate when she died in 1854 at the age of 89.
