Thomas married Elizabeth Walker on February 3, 1842 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Later he moved his family to Rusk County, Texas where he lived near the family of his brother John Bobbitt. Thomas was a son of Stephen and Elizabeth (Bradley) Bobbitt of Warren County, North Carolina.
