Green Bobbitt and his family were listed in the 1830 census of Maury County, Tennessee. Previously they were living in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina. The 1820 census for Wake County is missing. The 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900 census records give a better insight into this family. William H. Bobbitt who was listed in the 1860 census listed his father as Wiley Bobbitt of Weakley County. Haywood Bobbitt, brother of Wiley, listed his father as Green Bobbitt and his mother as Barbara Finch. Melissa Bobbitt, sister to Haywood and Wiley married into the Swain family of Weakley County, Tennessee and of Granville County, North Carolina.
