As far as the spelling that looks like Rufus Bapett, it all depends on what
an 1840 census taker thought he heard and census takers then did not ask you
how you spelled your surname. It looks as if the census taker made a mistake
on the letter "b," making it look like a strange "p." Marsha believes the
surname is Babett.
The 1 white male 15 to 19 would fit son Rufus Bobbitt/Babett, as he was born
about 1825. The son Rufus Babett or Bobbitt has 5 years to go to Nicholas
County, West Virginia and in about 1845 marry Mary Elizabeth Williams,
daughter of Elijah Williams and Matilda McCoy, established West Virginia
citizens. There is a large time frame.
