I have received two e-mails on the Bobbitt families.  I did check for information on Robert Bobbitt and an Abner Jones, Jr. but found no information.

 

It is a long story, but, I had in my possession an "album" dated 1875 concerning a story from Holly Springs, MS. that a Robert Bobbitt, son of Willis Smelly Bobbitt, shot at an Abner Jones, Jr.  wounding him.  He then turned the gun on himself and killed himself.  This past Wednesday, that I gave the 'Album' to a distant relative of Mrs. Mary Dow Wright Walls who, I believe, owned this book.  She was born in Mississippi and her father was a Brannon.  How and when the 'album' came into her possession I do not know.  She has been dead some 30 years or more. She rented an apartment in the 40's and 50's from my in-laws and I am guessing the album was left there when her son put her in a nursing home.
