Tony Witts Research
Tony Witts researched his family and Marsha Berry has backed
it up.
Tony Witts has sent us his tester's DNA results. See
chart below.
During the last several years a few contacts have
been made with a person in Australia. She and I were never able to
establish and confirm a Bobbitt connection. Now, comes Tony Witts...
"I also believe you may have been in contact with a
Shirley Holmes nee Bobbitt from Wodonga Victoria a few years ago, we got
together and exchanged information about our family, Shirley was a first cousin
to my mother Norma Witts nee Bobbitt, since then I have contacted the others in
my tree and we have met over the last few months, Shirley has since passed on
but I continue to try and find my past." --Tony Witts

Thank you Keith.
I am hoping Tony Witts will give me the go ahead and he and I
can go back further than James Bobbitt born about 1780 in Suffolk County,
England. I have not looked as of yet, but it is hoped a record for the chr
of James Bobbitt is available. Tony's male Bobbitt DNA test results gives
direction with now 3 known not related Bobbitt families in Suffolk County,
England and will help make correct research.

Susan lived her life in Felixstowe and was married to John
Bobbitt in the Parish Church of Felixstowe.
I will look for extracted chr records for a Susan Avis or
variation of Avis. I believe there is an extracted chr record for a Susan
Aves, daughter of James Aves and Susan Jessop in Newmarket Saint Mary,
Suffolk, England which is a long ways north from Felixstowe.
Felixstowe has the largest containment port in England.
This Suffolk County, Engand Bobbitt family is completely
different from my cousin Keith Bobbitt and my Suffolk County, England line
and is completely different from Chird Bobbitt's Suffolk County, England
line.

Marsha

Hello Tony,
Thank you for who of the Bobbitt males in your family are
interested in their family tree.
The next step in researching your Bobbitt line and being sure
there is no mistake in doing your genealogy, being your Bobbitt line is now
in Suffolk County, England, is to please ask one of your Bobbitt surname
males in your family to do a male DNA test.
I am sure you have noticed the added name and email address
of Keith Bobbitt on your emails as he is proven by a perfect DNA match to be
my cousin as he perfectly DNA matched my cousin Charles F. Bobbitt. And,
Stephen Bobbitt and Rosser Bobbitt are also a perfect male DNA match to
Keith and I.
Keith has a Bobbitt web site
keithbobbitt.com. And, Keith knows who does male DNA tests and can
compare them for you and advise you through the process with your Bobbitt
surname family member.
I have found some more extracted parish register records in

hensonzirbel with James John Bobbitt and Ella Perkins with child Frank
Victor Bobbitt and his wife Agnes Eleanor Moore and their child and your
mother Norma Frances Bobbitt. This tree has your mother Norma Frances
Bobbitt married Clifton George Witts and their children Phillip and
Stephanie Witts deceased and 3 living male children.
Tony, please include the email address for Keith Bobbitt
along with my 2 email addresses, gmail for large print and yahoo for
storage, so I will know what you and Keith are doing in regard to the male
DNA test for your Bobbitt line, etc.
I really need to know if you are or are not a 3rd male
Bobbitt DNA line from Suffolk County, England. It all depends on who
Elizabeth Fryatt is the daughter of because one Elizabeth Fryatt was chr 4
Dec 1775 in Grundisburgh, Suffolk, England, daughter of John Fryett and
Susanna.
Tony, my 10th Great Grandfather John Bobbet was chr 20 Jan
1579 in Grundisburgh, Suffolk, England and his 2 sisters were christened
there too. My 10th Great Grandfather John Bobbitt is also Keith Bobbitt's
direct line.
Tony, please go on Keith Bobbitt's
keithbobbitt.com web site and you will see the various male DNA results.
So far we have 2 Suffolk County, England Bobbitt lines, proven not related
to each other by male DNA test results.
Are you related to one of the Bobbitt Suffolk County, England
male DNA results or are you a 3rd Bobbitt line in Suffolk County, England?
I don't know what genealogy program you have, but I use PAF
5.2.
Attach: gedcom
TONY WITTS AUSTRALIA BOBBITT
Please let me know if you can open the gedcom or not. Keith
knows more about opening gedcoms than I do when people have a different
program than PAF 5.2. The old familysearch has a free PAF 5.2 download.
There are no living people's names on this gedcom.
Tony, does Keith Bobbitt have your permission to put a
descendancy for James Bobbitt and Elizabeth Fryatt on his keithbobbitt web
site? Keith will not put my gedcom on his web site but he will make the
descendancy from it.
Regards,
Marsha

Hello Keith,
Tony Witts of the Australia to Suffolk County, England
Bobbitt line requests you contact him.
Keith, Tony has given his permission for you to make a James
Bobbitt Descendancy from the 10 April 2011 TONY WITTS AUSTRALIA BOBBITT
Update and Correction PAF 5.2 gedcom on my private family Berry Family web
site in the File Cabinet, and place the Descendancy on
keithbobbitt.com.
Before you place the James Bobbitt Descendancy online, please
email Tony what the James Bobbitt Descendancy will look like. Thank you
Keith.
And, Keith and Tony, a reminder of Tony asking a male Bobbitt
relative of Tony's to take a male DNA test.

Hello Tony,
Marsha Berry gave me your email address. Congratulations on finding your
Bobbitt line.
I will add your lineage to our Bobbitt web site if you approve.
You may want to consider DNA testing. You will need a male in your direct
line with the surname Bobbitt to be the tester. Several of us have used the
lab at
https://www.familytreedna.com/Default.aspx Any DNA lab will work ok
though. The test is easy... no blood... just saliva. DNA testing gives us
proof positive about our research and it can be a great help to other people
who are also researching.
It's nice to meet a fellow Bobbitt. Keep in touch.
Keith

Hi Keith
Nice to get your email, I have tried the link you gave me but it keeps coming up
404 page error, I will try again later, in regards to my tree I have no
objections to you showing the content.
The DNA test will be great to hopefully find that link, and having Bobbitt’s...
who are happy to be tested is even better. I will follow that up or you can
advise what you think should be done.
In regards to my Bobbitt searching I am only back to the late 1700’s with James
Bobbitt bc 1780 and Elizabeth Fryatt bc 1780 both from Walton Suffolk, the
Bobbitt who started the Australian link was Isaac bc1833 at Walton the son of
John B and Susan Avis, Isaac came to Australia around 1856, the only record of
arrival we could find was for a Mr Babbitt, crew on the clipper “Caribbean “...
I also believe you may have been in contact with a Shirley Holmes nee Bobbitt
... a few years ago, we got together and exchanged information about our family,
Shirley was a first cousin to my mother Norma Witts nee Bobbitt, since then I
have contacted the others in my tree and we have met over the last few months,
Shirley has since passed on but I continue to try and find my past.
Kindest Regards
Antony ( Tony )

Thank you Tony for your 12 Apr 2011 email. I have made the
corrections and additions you emailed me on my gedcom and have put your 12

Family web site in the File Cabinet for Keith Bobbitt to use to make a
corrected James Bobbitt Descendancy for his
keithbobbitt.com web site.

Hello Tony,
Did you hear the shouts of joy all the way from my house in
USA to Australia when I read about the DNA test your cousin David Bobbitt
will do and the way you are being sure it is completed and sent back to the
USA?
Tony, the birth year of 1894 and death year of 1899 for
Alfred Bobbitt came from you as you are the source as per your 12 April 2011
email to me that had 11 alterations: Afred being number 7 of the 11
alterations. I have changed Afred's birth date to 1884 and the death year to
1889.
I have a concern in that I cannot find any indexed or
extracted chr record which is a parish register for an Ishmael Bobbitt that
you sent me born about 1811, son of James Bobbitt and Elizabeth Fryatt.
A patron submitted Ishmael Bobbitt born about 1811
Felixstowe, Suffolk, England with parents James Bobbitt and Elizabeth Fryatt
to the IGI. This is not an indexing or extracted parish register.
In the new familysearch is:
1840 England Census
Ishmael Bobbitt
age 30
birthplace: Suffolk
record type: household
registration district: Woodbridge
sub district: Colneus
Civil Parish: Felixstowe
County: Suffolk
Note: This does not prove who his parents are.
In my previous emails I sent you the individual and marriages
that are indexing or extracted parish registers that are in the old and new
familysearch. You have to be careful of what record you use as a source in
familysearch.
Thank you Tony.

Marsha

Hi Marsha
After a lot
of hassle trying to find a testing place in Aust I have ordered
a kit from the company that Keith recommended, family tree dna
.com, it was also the cheapest $130.00 US for a 25 marker test
which included postage to Australia, as soon as I receive the
kit I will forward it on to David Bobbitt my cousin, have him do
the swab, return the kit to me, that way I will know it is
completed and forwarded back to the US.
I also have
another alteration to the Bobbitts Aust, the information that
you had,can you tell me where it came from, they had a number of
mistakes and I would be interested to find out who supplied them
with their information, the alteration I have is for Alfred
Bobbitt his birth year is 1884 not 1894 and death year is 1889
not 1899.
I have
attached some details on other marriages linked to my tree, some
has been obtained from the LDS Familysearch site and from family
connected to the others but not confirmed, hope you can make
something out of it.

Tony

Hello Tony,
You are doing fine with this research. This is exciting for
you. I just wish the patron submissions on the familysearch IGI could give
their sources like the Ishmael Bobbitt entry. In my notes I have this is a
patron entry and not an indexing or extraction parish register.
Please forward the results of the DNA test to Keith Bobbitt.
He will post the results of the DNA test on his web site.
You can also email me the DNA results when you email Keith.
Thank you.
Regards,
Marsha

Hello Tony,
I am not aware of a pdf you provided Keith Bobbitt and I.
It was quite a while ago I came across a family tree on
ancestry but I used no information from it.
I have informed you before I made a PAF 5.2 of your genealogy
named TONY WITTS AUSTRALIA BOBBITT. From my PAF 5.2, a pdf descendancy can
be made. You gave permission for Keith and I to make an Outline Descendant
Report for James Bobbitt from my PAF 5.2 and for Keith to place the
descendancy on his
keithbobbitt.com web site.
From my PAF 5.2 of your genealogy, I asked Keith to make a
pdf Outline Descendant Report for James Bobbitt, so people cannot change
what I have. The only living son I have is you.

Marsha

Hi Marsha
I forgot to reply about the pdf file on my
tree that you thought I had provided to you or Keith, I did not
supply this to you, I have never had a pdf file on my family, my
only tree is on Genes Reunited, you did mention a record from
... family I think on Ancestry, the fact that who ever compiled
this file had 3 living sons to my mother and father has me
wondering where they obtained the information.

Hi Keith
Just a quick note to let you know the DNA kit arrived
today from the US, I will forward it on to David Bobbitt tomorrow and with
any luck it will be returned to the US early next week.

Hi Keith
Just to let you know the DNA kit was posted back today,
I had a little trouble getting it back from David Bobbitt, while on David
Bobbitt he mentioned a possible connection between the USA and Australian
families, his grand father Herbert mentioned some years ago a connection to
an Alan Augustas ( Gus ) Bobbitt, that he was a law officer in the US, he
was sure his grand father had some document or letter claiming the link but
this was never found after his death.
The other thing I never mentioned in the photo of John
James Bobbitt that I sent you was the name of the child he is holding, it is
Shirley Holmes nee Bobbitt’s son Alan Holmes.

Hello Tony,
Thank you for letting me know Family Tree in Houston received
your David Bobbitt's DNA kit.
I am getting excited to know the results. Keith Bobbitt will
want to know too.
I am wondering if your Bobbitt line is or is not related to
any of the now 3 different Bobbitt lines in Suffolk County, England who have
been male DNA tested of which I am aware:
1. Keith Bobbitt and Marsha Berry
2. Chird Bobbitt
3. John W. Bobbitt and 2 others
My husband and I live in ... so we have had temperatures
lower than normal and rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains all
through April and into May. We are to finally warm up to normal May
temperatures. We have had no violent storms here.
It is in the plains states and midwest, especially in Joplin,
Missouri and Ohio valley that has had more than the usual amount of terrible
tornadoes.

Marsha

Located the attached this morning after logging in to FTDNA, there was no
advice from them that they had completed the tests which was a bit
disappointing, I look forward to your reply once you have examined the
results.

Hi Tony,
This is an exciting time. Thank you for David Bobbitt's FTDNA
results. Please thank David for me for doing his Bobbitt DNA test. This
verifies and puts in stone your Bobbitt paper trail thus far.
Your Bobbitt line is a 3rd Bobbitt line in Suffolk County,
England that is not related to Keith Bobbitt and my Suffolk County, England
line and is not related to Chird Bobbitt and his Suffolk County, England
line.
When you are ready, would you like you and I to continue
research on your Suffolk County, England line?
Thank you for the exciting news.

Marsha
