"August 15, 1822: William Bobbitt to Molly Bobbitt. in consideration of the love and affection and for the better security and the maintenance of the said Molly Bobbitt, the mother in her advanced years, the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge, land on the North side of Big Fishing Creek, it being the land whereon my father lived, containing by estimation one hundred acres more or less .... bounded as follows adjoining the lines of Hegden, Moore, Macklin, and Thomas Clark."
(In the margin of the deed.) Also agreed, that an additional 5.00 be paid Molly Bobbitt, it being a debt due from Peter R. Davis and Co."
witnesses: William Person (S) WILLIAM BOBBITT
Edward Denton (Mark) MOLLY X BOBBITT
(Second signature) (S) William Bobbitt.
We know from previous deeds that this is the exact land of Miles Bobbitt who died in 1794. The deed is not entirely clear, but apparently the land is being sold, and the money given to the support of Molly Bobbitt. (Mary Powell Bobbitt).
Molly Bobbitt was born in 1742 and we believe that she died in 1824 or 1825. She was about 11 years younger than Miles Bobbitt.
William and Polly Bobbitt were listed in the 1830 census of Warren County as living near other descendants of the Lewis Bobbitt Senior families.
William Bobbitt:
1 male 10 - 15 (1815-1820) 2 females 5 - 10 (1820-1825)
1 male 15 - 20 (1810-1815) 1 female 15 - 20 (1810-1815)
1 male 50 - 60 (1770-1780) 1 female 40 - 50 (1780-1790)
Polly was born in 1781, and William was born in 1777. This record shows the entire family with the exception of the first daughter who was born to Winnie Bennet. Depending on the date the census was taken, the age of William H. Bobbitt would be 14 and the age of Harvey M. Bobbitt would be 11. One of the girls born in 1825 may have been named Mary Bobbitt and is counted in the 1850 census records.
