Three of the five sons of Major William Bobbitt served in the war between the states, for the Confederate Army.

John B. Bobbitt , served in Company D, 5th Mississippi infantry and in Company 1, 2nd Partisan Rangers of Mississippi as a Private.

William C. Bobbitt, served in Company C, 1st Mississippi Cavalry as a Private.

Thomas B. Bobbitt, served in Company B, 22nd Mississippi Infantry as a Private.

Thirty other members of the Bobbitt family are recorded as having served from the state of Mississippi in the Army of the Confederate States of America.
