GREEN W. BOBBITT      1811 - 1860     Son of Drury and Rebecca Bobbitt

Green W. Bobbitt was born on January 8, 1811 in Warren County North Carolina. He was a son of Drury and Rebecca (Burrow) Bobbitt. He had one brother named John James Bobbitt born in 1807 and one sister named Rebecca born in 1805. Rebecca Bobbitt died in 1814 when Green W. Bobbitt was three years of age. Rebecca, Green, and John were reared by the second wife of Drury Bobbitt who was Frances Moss. Drury and Frances (Moss) Bobbitt were married in 1817 and lived in Moore County, North Carolina. The family is recorded in the census taken in 1820.

Listed immediately after his grandfather, Drury Bobbitt Senior.

The first family is easily identified in this census record. The male 10 - 16 is John James Bobbitt born in 1807, one of the males under 10 is Green W. Bobbitt born in 1811, and the female 10 - 16 is Rebecca born in 1805. The other two sons are children of Drury and Frances Moss Bobbitt.

John James Bobbitt and his brother Green IV. Bobbitt cannot be identified in any of the 1830 census records. They were likely living with relatives in the Burrow family or with relatives that moved to Tennessee. Green W. and his brother John James were listed in the 1840 census records in Fayette County, Tennessee.

In 1833, Green Bobbitt married Isabella Owen, by whom he had one daughter. She was named Isabella 0. Bobbitt. His wife died in 1834 and in 1836 Green W. Bobbitt married Emarintha Owen, who was a sister of his first wife. Both wives were the daughters of William Owen, and granddaughters of Thomas Owen of North Carolina. By 1836, Green W. Bobbitt owned 250 acres of land near the present township of Moscow, Tennessee.

Emarintha Owen Bobbitt lived long enough to bear Green IV. Bobbitt several children before she died in 1843.
