"Virginia Alford was the second daughter of Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt. She married American Alford and they had two sons and one daughter. Edwin Alford married Laura McCoy. Emma the only daughter of the family married Porter McCoy. Harvey Alford married Rose Tomlinson.

"Sarah Bobbitt was the third daughter of Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt. Sarah married Alexander Groves of Hollywood, in Monroe County. The sons in this family were, Robert Groves, Lewis P. Groves, Charles Groves, Douglas Groves, Ed Groves, John Groves and William Groves. The daughters were Bettie, Lula, Annie, Laura, Hallie and Glenna. All the children married except Bettie, who took her mother's place as head of the family, after her mother died.

"Lula Groves married Fletcher Reed, Glenna Groves married C. H. Miller of Union. Laura Groves married Floyd Wickline.

"Lewis P. Groves, the second son, of Sarah and Alexander Groves, was educated for the ministry and served as pastor to several Baptist churches in Indiana and West Virginia. He married Lena Shires, a daughter of Christopher and Isabel Shires of Gates. Charles Groves married Esta Baker of Sweet Springs. Ed Groves married Willie Boone. William Groves moved to Indiana. The Groves family lived on the estate of Gilmer Patton, a son of Judge Patton of Union. The estate was known as Paradise Place.

"Caroline the fourth daughter of Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt, married Wallace Keller. Their son John Keller studied for the ministry. He presided at the funeral of Mrs. Pendleton Bobbitt. Their daughter Alice Keller was a kind and warm hearted woman who was fond of all of her relatives.

"Mary Etta Bobbitt was the fifth daughter of Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt. She married Christopher H. Miller. They had five daughters, Mintie, Daisy, Josie, Lilly, and Mary. There were two sons, Rosser Miller and Evert Miller.

"Millie Jane is the sixth daughter of Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt. She married Charles Campbell of Gap Mills. They had three daughters and one son. The daughters were Bessie, Annie, and Ina. The son was Glen Campbell."

As time passes and the history of a family passes with those who remembered, many of us will be grateful to George Gibson Bobbitt for writing his memories. In 1976, I had many visitors who searched these pages for their connections to the Gibson Bobbitt family.
