"In 1897, a reunion of Confederate Veterans was held in Plainview, Texas. Captain James T. Bobbitt of Hillsboro was made Commander and was unanimously re- each year as long as the group met, and that was each summer until about 1910. The STAYER, a county newspaper, gave detailed publicity to each of these meetings. The copies of the newspapers are micro-filmed and in the University Library. Captain Bobbitt appeared on each program of every meeting.
"I have copied from the Microfilm of Canyon the papers beginning with 1901, to date there are some thirty pages. Captain Bobbitt must have been an unusual character, admired by all the old veterans."
