in the field of school administration. He was a leader in the period of the early development of school surveys, and directed surveys at South Bend, Indiana, 1912; San Antonio, Texas, 1915; and Denver, Colorado, 1916. This interest is indicated, likewise, by his contribution to the 12th Year Book, 1913, of N.S.S.E., Some General Principles of Management Applied to the Problems of City School Systems.

Although Dr. Bobbitt continued lectures on "Principles of Educational Administration," his interests in the studies of the curriculum became more and more prominent. As a curriculum specialist he served for a time as assistant superintendent of schools at Los Angeles, California, 1922; and at Toledo, Ohio, in 1923, and in 1924. Beyond the classroom his influence was extended by a series of publications in this area: What the Schools Teach and Might Teach, 1915; The Curriculum, 1918 Curriculum Making in Los Angeles, 1922; Curriculum Principles, 1922; How to Make a Curriculum, 1924; Curriculum Investigations, 1926; and The Curriculum of Modern Education, 1941.

In the years ahead Professor Bobbitt is planning an analysis of the fundamentals of school administration. Former students and other readers of the literature of administration will await with interest this study of carefully formulated principles, concisely stated, in his projected volume, Principles of School Administration.
