On June 9, 1847, Allen Bobbitt was ill, but went to the court house in Granville County and had a will recorded. The will does not mention all of his children, possibly because he had provided for his older children before his wish to make a will. Allen died in January of 1848 and his will was recorded and probated in February 1848.

"I Allen Bobbitt of the County of Granville ..... do make and ordain this my last will and testament.

Item: I give to my beloved wife, Elizabeth, all my estate both personal and real during her lifetime, and at her death the whole to be equally divided among all my children after giving my daughters one hundred dollars each."

Item: I give to my son Rufus Bobbitt a horse of ordinary value to be worth from $ 30 to $ 50 as my other sons have had a horse and he has never had one.

Item: I give to my son Augustus E. Bobbitt $ 45 to be paid to him by my executors after my death and before a general division of my estate, to make his portion equal to that given to the balance of my children.

Item: I appoint my two sons, Thomas V. Bobbitt and Augustus E. Bobbitt, my executors, thereby revoking and disallowing all others. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of June in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Seven." ALLEN BOBBITT
