FEDERAL CENSUS OF 1800           Bobbitt family of North Carolina

HALIFAX COUNTY - formed from Edgecombe County in 1758.

Sheerwood Bobbitt: 

3 males under 10 (1790-1800)    1 female under 10 (1790-1800)

Sheerwood Bobbitt was a son of Drury and Elizabeth (Harris) Bobbitt. Sheerwood was born in 1763 in what is today Warren County. On June 28, 1779, Sheerwood married Sarah Burrows. His uncle Randolph Bobbitt was the bondsman for the marriage. Sheerwood served in the war of the Revolution. He reared a large family and died in Halifax County in 1827.

Turner Bobbitt:

Turner Bobbitt was a son of William and Martha (Turner) Bobbitt. He was born in 1764. He married Elizabeth Mangum in 1783 in Warren County. Turner and Elizabeth Bobbitt had two sons  John B. Bobbitt born in 1787 and William Turner Bobbitt born in 1790.

William Bobbitt:

William Bobbitt was a son of Lewis and Elizabeth (Moore) Bobbitt. He was born in 1738 in Amelia County Virginia. He married Martha Turner in 1762. William died in Raleigh, North Carolina on June 6, 1825 in his 87th year of age.

John Bobbitt:

John Bobbitt was a son of John Richard and Amy (Alston) Bobbitt. He was born in 1749 in what is today Warren County. John married a widow by the name of Sarah (Jones) Williams. They had two sons, Archibald and Claiborn Bobbitt. Archibald died young. John and his family moved to Warren County Kentucky, where John died in 1824. His son Claiborn born in 1774 moved to Jackson County in Alabama after the death of his father.
