OBITUARY OF SAMUEL MCCLUNG BOBBITT

Samuel M. Bobbitt, 47, died Wednesday morning at his home after a few days illness of pneumonia. He was a son of Elijah and Rowena Bobbitt, both of whom died in 1931. Mr. Bobbitt was born and reared on Muddlety and spent his boyhood and early manhood there. He was a 32 degree Mason. He married Miss Anna Newlon of Spencer in 1915 and resided at Eskdale where he was manager of the Consolidated Store Company for about fifteen years. He returned to the Bobbitt farm in May 1931 and has resided there since that date.

Surviving are his widow, Anna Newlon Bobbitt, two sons, Samuel N.(Bobby) and John W.(Jack), one daughter Jean Sterling; three brothers, Lee Otis Bobbitt, County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. 0. H. Bobbitt of Charleston, Sterling Bobbitt, Assistant Superintendent of Schools of Mercer County; two sisters, Mrs. Lola Summers, of Gauley Bridge, and Mrs. Virginia Flentje, of Round Lake, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Summersville, Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Walker Memorial Park. (Obituary from the Nicholas Chronicle, Summersville, W.Va.)
