The John Bobbitt who witnessed the will of Sheerwood Bobbitt was a brother of Sheerwood's and he was living in Moore County at the time the will of Sheerwood was written in 1827. The records of Moore County were burned in a court house fire. There is no record of the will of Drury Bobbitt or of its disposition.

According to the military records of Sheerwood Bobbitt he died on November 21, 1827, just 19 days after he wrote his will.

The following are interesting notes from the military and pension records for Sheerwood Bobbitt and his wife Sarah Bobbitt.

Served 12 months in the North Carolina Militia

Drafted into service on October 20, 1780

Came before me on this day, Jame s Durham, who says that he was acquainted with Sherwood Bobbitt and his wife Sarah, (whose maiden name was Sally Burrow) and that they were married about the year of 1778 and that they lived as man and wife up until the time of death of said Bobbitt.

The said James Durham also swears that he knows that the said Sherwood Bobbitt was in the North Carolina Militia as a soldier and served as such for the term of three months under Capt. Joel Wreen and major Mathew Wood, commencing on or about the 10th day of May 1781 and ending on or about the 10th day of August 1781.

Henry Harris, Magistrate.

I Francis Riggan, Revolutionary Pensioner aged 78 years, of the County of Warren, certify upon oath that I knew Sheerwood Bobbitt who was a soldier of the Revolution. I certify that Sherwood Bobbitt did serve as a Militia Soldier for three months under Captain Jordon Harris from the 10th day of February 1781 to the 10th day of May 1781, at which time the said Bobbitt substituted himself in the place of James Walker for three months under Captain John white. I do further certify that the said Sheerwood Bobbitt did volunteer as a militia soldier for three months from the 10th day of August 1780.
