. We have checked all the records for the names of other possible sons of Solomon and Honour Bobbitt and we cannot find any born in the period 1796 to 1810 who will qualify as children of this family.
On July 30, 1840 a deed was recorded in Franklin County in Book 28, page 162, which adds to the complications of this mysterious family.
"From Emily G. Bobbitt of Franklin County to Rowan E. Bobbitt and all my other children should there be such, for love and affection I bear my daughter, one undivided sixth part of land joining John Person, Archibald Turner, Owen Davis, and David Stone, it being land which descended from Lucretia Wiggins." Witnesses: J. Derson, Joseph Overton.
On the same day, July 30, 1840, Book 28, page 162 this deed was also recorded.
"From Thomas Jones formerly of Kentuc ky but now of Franklin County, to Rowan E. Bobbitt, I re- linquish all claim to land and a negro which he has by intermarriage with Emily G. Bobbitt."
There is only one record of Solomon Bobbitt the son of our Solomon and Honour Bobbitt. The census of 1840 lists him in
Solomon Bobbitt:
1 male under 5 (1835-1840) 1 female under 5 (1835-1840)
1 male 10 - 15 (1825-1830) 1 female 5 10 (1830-1835)
1 male 20 - 30 (1810-1820) 1 female 20 30 (1810-1820)
Silas J. Bobbitt has never been listed in the census records. We have never been able to trace a Bobbitt family back to any one connected with Solomon Bobbitt or his sons. It is likely the sons of Solomon Junior lived in Franklin or Granville Counties but never were counted in the Census records.
