SOLDIER OF THE WAR OF 1812
Drury Richard Bobbitt was born in 1786 in Warren County, North Carolina. He was a son of Stephen and Celah (Harris) Bobbitt. Drury and his brother Stephen served in the war of 1812, and received land grants in Tennessee for their service. Stephen married Elizabeth Bradley on September 22, 1814. Drury Bobbitt and Sarah Bradley were married on August 4, 1818. Soon after Drury and Sarah were married they left Warren County, North Carolina and moved to Williamson County, Tennessee. Drury was thirty two years of age when he married and there are no indications that he had been previously married. His family was first counted in the census of 1820 in Williamson County.

This record shows that their first child was a daughter and born in Tennessee. Sometime after the census was taken their second child was born and in the year of 1820. Drury Bobbitt died in 1833. His brother Stephen Bobbitt died in 1831. This was the only family in the census of Robertson County in 1830 and again in 1840. The census for 1840 listed the family under the heading of Drury Bobbitt.

The two sons in this record are Stephen, born in 1820 and James, born in 1825. Sarah was born in 1795. The children born to Drury and Sarah Bobbitt were two sons and five daughters. The eldest daughter was away from home when the above census was taken. We believe that her name was Clementine C. Bobbitt and that she married Robert A. Denny in Rutherford County on November 13, 1837.
Soon after this census was taken, Stephen Bobbitt married, Virginia Forbes and lived for some time in Kentucky.
