December 18, 1841 Pulaski County Kentucky.
Mr. Stewart told me a few days back, that he had seen you and that you were well, which gives me great satisfaction. Mr. Stewart said that you told him that father-in-law had left dollars for me and I want you to write to me, as quickly as possible and let me know what way he allowed me to have it.
Dear brother, we are all separated and unless we write to one another, you live in Virginia, I live in Kentucky, Sarah lives in Ohio, and Thomas is in Missouri, we will never all meet together till we meet in the other world.
In this letter we know that the family migrated to Missouri sometime between the summer of 1840 and December of 1841. Nancy and Thomas who went to Missouri were counted in the 1840 census of Pulaski County Kentucky, but according to this letter were in Missouri at the time this letter was written. Many members of the Bobbitt family went to Missouri and apparently as early as 1841, some we know did not go until 1843, but the majority had gone before 1845.
November, the 1 day, 1847 Howard County Missouri
I will say that all of our connections (relatives). that are here near to us are all well and doing well. Enoch Liggit and Rebecca are doing well. William Bobbitt and Randolph Bobbitt and those families are all well.
Enoch Liggit married Rebecca Bobbitt, daughter of Caleb and Nancy Bobbitt. They were married in Pulaski County Kentucky in 1840, and went with the family to Missouri. Randolph Bobbitt was a nephew of Caleb Bobbitt, son of his brother William Bobbitt. The William Bobbitt spoken of here was William the son of Robert Bobbitt another brother of Caleb.
My son, I received your letter of the 19 of August 1847. I suppose that you have heard about the war, how many battles have been fought, and so many poor soldiers have lost their lives. (she is referring to the Mexican war.)
