my son, I will say to you, it seems to be a slack time here with the people concerning religion, not much preaching, and very little strive or.... I consider at such times that there used to be here a big meeting house at Richland. Last September we had preaching for four days and they got one convert. It seems lately, that they go out of the church faster they come in, some moving off, and some dead, and some turned off.

I have lately heard from Jacob Thomas from the Ohio, that they are all well. His son Caleb was lately married and his daughter Poley was married some years ago, and she has two children, a son and a daughter, and their son is blind.

Jacob Thomas married Sarah Bobbitt, a daughter of Nancy and Caleb Bobbitt.

I have not heard from Kentucky for a long time. My dear son, if you do or have heard from any of them in Kentucky, your brothers and sisters, do write to rase all that you know, for they never write to me. Write to me and tell me how your father-in-law, Jennings has gotten, and my brother John Blair, and all of his family, and if all of their children are married.

Dear son, I cannot tell you how badly I want to see you all, but I am afraid, I never will have that pleasure again in this life.

When Nancy Bobbitt left Kentucky, she never again saw any of her children except Rebecca and Thomas who went to Missouri with her. Nancy lived to see all of her children die before she died.

I heard remark that Thomas and Hannah sends their love and best respects to you all, and Hannah wishes you would try to know how her mother is doing, the widow Gilmore, and all of her connections. And they wish to know what sickness John Franklin Bobbitt died with. I wish you to remember me to my brother John Blair, likewise to George McKinzie and William Lenard and all of their families.

Send your letters to the Glasgow Post Office.

                                                                                     Nancy Bobbitt

Thomas Bobbitt, son of Nancy and Caleb Bobbitt married Hannah Gilmore in Kentucky. The Gilmore family apparently was from Virginia.
