The deed below gives some insight into the descendants of Miles and Mary Bobbitt, and mentions several of their children.

On May 11, 1849, recorded in Warren County, Will Book 40, page 179.

Twenty dollars, refunding bond, from Winefred Bobbitt, Surety: Miles Bobbitt. Winefred has received ten dollars from P. D. Powell, as her share of the land from the estate of Joshua Bobbitt, deceased. She (Winefred) being one of the heirs of John Bobbitt, deceased, brother of the said, Joshua. This refunding bond is in case there is any claim from either of her brothers or sisters. Witnesses: John D. Newell, Myrick W. Duke."

Joshua Bobbitt died without heirs and all of his estate was left to his brother, John Bobbitt. Winefred Bobbitt was a daughter of John Bobbitt. Miles Bobbitt who offered security in this legal action was a first cousin to John and Joshua Bobbitt. Miles was a son of Lewis Bobbitt Junior, who was a brother of Miles Bobbitt.

There were several members of the early Bobbitt family in North Carolina with the name of "Miles".

Miles Bobbitt, son of Lewis and Elizabeth 1731 - 1794

Miles Bobbitt, son of Lewis and Mary      1792 - 1861

Miles Bobbitt, son of James and Mary      1826 - 1836

Miles Bobbitt, son of Alpheus and Julia   1843 - 1919

Miles Bobbitt, son of Joshua and Patsy    1823 - 1832

Jacob Bobbitt left North Carolina and was living in Wilkes County, Georgia as early as 1780. Joshua Bobbitt lived his entire life in Warren County. Joshua had one daughter to his first wife, Dicie Duke, and one son to his second wife, Patsy Haithcock. John married Patience Harris, reared a family and both died in North Carolina. Lewis Bobbitt moved to Tennessee in the 1800's about 1818. William Bobbitt lived out his life in Warren County, North Carolina. Many Bobbitt families today can trace their lineage back to this family.

The daughters are not easily traced. From the records it is indicated that they married into various families living in the area, such families as Haithcock, Person, Powell, Myrick, Harris, Dowtain, and Johnson.

Miles Bobbitt did not leave a will, there was no estate settlement. The family is not well documented except for some of the children.
