In 1830 the census of Rockbridge County listed the family of Milton and Elizabeth Bobbitt.

1 male 20 - 30 (1800-1810)                   1 female 20 - 30 (1800-1810)

For some reason the family was not listed in the 1840 census. The 1850 census listed the family two times. On September 3, 1850 the family was counted when Susan Davis, a sister-in-law of Milton Bobbitt was staying with the family. Much of the information given on this date is in error, and was probably given by Susan Davis, who was not certain of the family facts. On August 19, 1850 the family was counted again and I am sure this is the more correct census.
