The Bobbitt Family In America

Captain Joseph Anderson (1816-1889) married Jerdena Jane Bobbitt of Greenbrier County, Virginia. Captain Joseph Anderson was an officer in the Union Army and Jerdena Bobbitt (1824-1864) was from a strictly Confederate family. Jerdena Jane was one of the sixteen children of John and Permelia (Hill) Bobbitt and had numerous relatives in Monroe and Greenbrier Counties. The marriage caused political hard feelings that caused a split in the family that never healed. Jerdena was buried in the Anderson cemetery just outside the township of Lewisburg, West Virginia. Her grave was marked with a large marble momument.
