The most exciting and unusual record of this family was in the census records of 1850. John and Permelia were living in Greenbrier County and were counted as family # 1412, on November 30, 1850.

Permelia Bobbitt, daughter of John and Permelia, has her age stated incorrectly. William Bobbitt was a son of Tilman and Jane Bobbitt.

Living in Greenbrier County near the family of John and Permelia were several of their children and their families.

Greenville and Nancy (Ewes) Bobbitt and seven daughters. Tillman and Jane Bobbitt, with four daughters and three sons. Charles and Sarah Ann Johnson, with four daughters and four sons. Gibson and Elizabeth Bobbitt, with four daughters and five sons. John and Nancy Toothman, with four daughters and two sons. Joseph and Jerdenia Anderson, with four daughters and four sons. Oregon and Lucy Ann Bobbitt, with three sons.

In 1856, John Bobbitt died in Greenbrier County. James Hill Bobbitt became the head of household, assisted by his sister Mary Frances Bobbitt. Permelia Jane Bobbitt was still at home. On Jul), 31, 1857, James Bobbitt married and left home to live in near by Nicholas County. On August l4th, 1857, Eli Withrow, son of Eli and Susan Withrow, married Mary Frances Bobbitt. He moved into the farm home and took care of the aging Permelia (Hill) Bobbitt. Eli Withrow was a stonemason and a prosperous man.

Permelia Hill Bobbitt died on August 1861. Eli Davis Withrow went to the county courthouse an reported the death, with all the concern of a son, rather than a son-in-law. The death is recorded in Book 1 A, page 25, line 18, of Greenbrier County.

Both John and Permelia are believed to have been buried in the Livesay family cemetery not far from the town of Lewisburg. Mary Frances Bobbitt Withrow lived until 1901. Eli Davis Withrow died on January 6, 1929 at the age of 98.
