These are abstracts of all deeds with reference to Granville County between 1738 and 1763 in which the members of the Bobbitt family were involved. It names all the family members and their neighbors, many of whom were relatives.
February 19, 1738 George Smith and wife Elizabeth of Bertie County to Robert Minns, 100 acres on Great Quankey Swamp, joining John Cotton and John Bobbitt, deceased, and son Bobbitt.
August 2, 1744 John Tomkins of South Carolina to Richard Bennett for 180 acres of land on the north prog of Buffalo Branch. Witnesses: William Bobbitt Junior.
February 19, 1744 William Bobbitt Senior to John Smart for 100 acres of land in the fork of Buffaloe, joining Richard Bennett. Witness: Richard Bennett.
August 2, 1744 Francis Young of South Carolina to William Bobbitt of North Carolina for 192 acres on the Branch side of Seeley's Meadow, joining Buffaloe Branch. Witness: Richard Bennett.
March 25, 1749 John Earl of Granville to William Bobbitt of Granville County, 600 acres of land on the south side of Little Fishing Creek.
June 7, 1749 Survey of land for Lewis Bobbitt 450 acres of land on the south side of Reedy Creek.
July 4, 1754 William Bobbitt sells 550 acres to Thomas Williams on the south side of Reedy Creek. (This is part of the 600 acres granted above which was on Little Fishing Creek. The two names are often used for the same locations.)
August 20, 1754 William Bobbitt of Orange County sells to Daniel Harris, 50 acres of land on the south side of Little Fishing Creek. (The last of the 600 acres granted above has been sold, referred to in this record as being on Little Fishing Creek.)
April 4, 1755 William Bobbitt Senior to John Jones of Edgecomb County, 100 acres in Granville County.
July 5, 1755 Lewis Bobbitt of Granville County to Richard Maddrey, 200 acres on the south side of Reedy Creek, joining the mouth of Spring Branch. Witnesses: Wm. Person, Wm. Person, Jr.
