The settlement of the estate of Robert Moore concerned the family and relatives of Lewis Bobbitt. It did not concern the family of John Richard Bobbitt although they lived near to the family of Lewis Bobbitt. Drury and Stephen Bobbitt, sons of John Richard Bobbitt were mature men by 1763 but had no reason to attend the sale of the estate of Robert Moore.

On November 20, 1764 an administrators bond in the sale of the estate of Robert Moore, deceased, was issued to Elizabeth Moore, with William Bobbitt and Richard Hardy as securities. William Bobbitt in this action had to be the son of Lewis Bobbitt and the grandson of Robert Moore. The Moore family was a large family in North Carolina. They were also recorded in the Albemarle Parish records and in Bristol Parish records of Virginia. The same parishes in which the birth of Miles Bobbitt was recorded in 1731.

In 1763 Lewis Bobbitt Senior sold land to his son William Bobbitt. In 1762 Robert Moore sold land to Miles Bobbitt, son of Lewis and Elizabeth Bobbitt. In 1765 Lewis Bobbitt sold land to his son Lewis Bobbitt Junior.

OCTOBER 21, 1765:

Lewis Bobbitt to Lewis Bobbitt Junior, both of Bute County. 167 acres of land on the south side of Reedy Creek. Witnesses: William Person Junior, Hannah Duke, Proved by William Person Junior. (Bute County records, Book 1. page 4.)

The three sons of Lewis and Elizabeth (Moore) Bobbitt have land of their own at this time. It was generally the custom to get married and then to buy land on which to build a house and rear one's own family.

William Bobbitt the son of Lewis Bobbitt is last mentioned in the land records in November 1778. Compare this deed with the deed recorded on August 9, 1763 between Lewis Bobbitt and William Bobbitt.

NOVEMBER 1778:

William Bobbitt to John Emerson, both of Bute County for 300 pounds of Virginia money for 150 acres of land in Bute County on the south side of Reedy Creek at the mouth of Reedy Spring Gut, to surveyed line and upper corner of the said Bobbitt. Witnesses: Wm. Park. (Bute County records, Deed Book 7, page 101)

William Bobbitt son of Lewis Bobbitt lived in Granville and Bute County from 1753 until 1779. William lived in this same area from the time he came from Virginia to North Carolina. He should not be confused with William Bobbitt Senior and his son William who lived in Granville and Orange counties.
