The 1800 census record of Franklin County indicates that Claiborn was born between 1755 and 1774, the 1850 census record of Jackson County, Alabama states that Claiborn was born in 1774. He was not married by the year of 1800.
On November 8, 1809, Claiborn Bobbitt was a witness to a deed made by Turner Bobbitt of Franklin County, it was recorded in Book 3, page 208. Apparently the family North Carolina for Kentucky early in the spring of 1810. Both families are counted in the 1810 census records of Warren County, Kentucky.

Neither Claiborn or John was listed in the 1820 census records of Warren County, Kentucky. The records of the county show that John Bobbitt was living there in 1824, as recorded in Book 9, page 256.

Franklin County, North Carolina, records, Book 15, page 197, makes this reference to Claiborn Bobbitt's marriage, and to the family living in Warren County, Kentucky.
"Claiborn and Martha Bobbitt of Warren County Kentucky, to Isham Fox, of Franklin County, North Carolina, for $ 111.00, land devised to us by the will of our father, John Gholsen, late of Franklin County, deceased, and is land purchased from Thomas K. Wynn."
