JOHN WILLIAM BOBBITT       1782 - 1855       Son of Isham and Elizabeth Bobbitt

John William Bobbitt was the fourth son of Isham and Elizabeth (James) Bobbitt. He was born on February 16, 1782 in Warren County North Carolina. In 1789, John Bobbitt moved with the family to Spartanburg County, South Carolina. In 1802 he married Hester Boney in South Carolina. The family moved to Christian County Kentucky in 1803 where John and Hester reared their family and lived out their lives.

The best picture of the family is seen in the listings of the 1820 and 1830 census records of Christian County Kentucky.

1 male 30 - 40 (1800-1810)

1 male 50 - 60 (1780-1790)

In the 1830 census, Stephen Bobbitt son of John is living at home with his wife, and two children. In 1840 1 believe the son born between 1835 and 1840 was a son of Isham D. Bobbitt's, a grandson of John Bobbitt. The best studies of this family, and it is confirmed by descendants is that there were five sons and three daughters who lived to maturity.

Note also that the male born between 1800-1810 remains with the family until 1850. This I believe is William Bobbitt son of Allen Bobbitt, born in South Carolina late in 1799. Allen died in 1809.
