Stephen Bobbitt died in Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on December 23, 1856. Barbara Chrisman Bobbitt died on April 25, 1882 in Camp Point, Adams County, Illinois. Both were buried in the family cemetery in Pittsfield, Illinois.
Information about the children comes from a booklet published by Harry Bobbitt of San Jose, California. Harry was a son of James Wallace Bobbitt, a grandson of James G. Bobbitt, and a great grandson of Stephen and Barbara Bobbitt.
The family is a very important key family in our history. Many descendants live in Illinois today and in western states of Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, California, and Kansas. The Chrisman family became interested in the Mormon movement in the middle 1800's and along with the Chrismans several members of the Bobbitt family of this branch became Mormons. Originally the family were reared as members of the Southern Baptist religious groups.
