Elizabeth Bobbitt 39 (1811) North Carolina
E. (Elzorah) Bobbitt 20 (1830) Illinois (Kentucky)
Hardy Bobbitt 16 (1834) Illinois (Kentucky)
The two sons apparently stayed to work in Morgan County, and Elizabeth returned to Mason County to be with her younger sons who were staying near or with the Mays family. The total census count in Mason and Morgan county lists all of her sons, nine in number.
One cannot help but realize the plight of Elizabeth Bobbitt. She had nine sons to rear and five of them were ten years of age or younger. She herself was not forty years of age. Much of her help came from the Mays family. Elizabeth never remarried. In 1860 she was working as a seamstress in McLean County Illinois.
