Like most parishes in the Virginia Colony, Albemarle was a rural parish. The distances between the glebe and the churches (save for Nottoway) was very long, ranging from six to twenty miles.

The specific Bobbitt family references in the Parish Register date from January 11, 1740 until January 29, 1772, but more important are the names of relatives associated with the Bobbitt family.
