Sep. 18, 1750 - Thomas Bobbitt legacy from Robert Green: To my Cousin, Thomas Bobbitt, my plantation and land, 150 acres where I now live and one Negro. To my cousin Mary Sturdivant 5 pounds, to my cousin Ann Threewitts, 2 Negroes, my great chest, ...etc. To my cousin, John Mercer, one Negro and the remainder of my estate to John Mercer and Thomas Bobbitt. Apr. 4, 1752 - James Bobbitt of Lunenburg County, Virginia, received from David Caldwell and Thomas Rodgers, executors of the estate of William Rodgers, deceased, 285 acres of land lying on both sides of Pigg River beginning on the north side of Pirgg River, on the east side of Frying Pan Creek, down the creek ....etc .... Witnesses: William Caldwell, William Hill, Robert Baber, John Mead, Thomas Daugherty, John M. Neese. (Lunenburg County deeds.)
At the time this deed was recorded, Lunenburg County, covered what is today several counties in Virginia. The most noteworthy was the land of Bedford, Halifax, and Pittsylvania counties. The above deed refers to land in present day Pittsylvania County.
1753 The county of Sussex Virginia was formed out of Albermarle Parish in Surry County. Halifax County was formed in this year from the county of Lunenburg, and Bedford County was formed partly from Lunenburg.
Apr. 24, 1753 - King George II granted to Lewis Bobbitt of Granville County, (North Carolina) 450 acres on the south side of Reedy Creek. (Granville County deeds.)
Oct. 8, 1754 - Lewis Bobbitt Junior and Miles Bobbitt names appear on the muster roll records of Granville County, North Carolina Regiment of Militia under the command of Colonel William Eaton. (North Carolina State Records)
1755 The Granville County, North Carolina tax lists, contained the names of Miles Bobbitt, Lewis Bobbitt, and John Bobbitt.
