In Virginia, Bobbitt families are living in the counties of Surry, Sussex, Pittsylvania, Bedford, Amherst and perhaps Campbell. In North Carolina, Bobbitt families are in the counties of Granville, Orange, Warren (or Bute County) and Halifax Mar. 13, 1761 - James Bobbitt who was living on his plantation on Pigg River and Frying Pan Creek, in present day Pittsylvania County, died. His will which was presented to the Halifax County Court on August 20, 1761, was written on March 13, 1761. In his will he mentions his entire family. (Halifax County records, Will Book 01131.)

Jan. 6, 1764 - Timothy Dalton and Elizabeth his wife of the county of Bedford and William Bobbitt of Halifax County for five shilling paid by William Bobbitt for 240 acres of land on the south side of the Pigg River being the land on which the said William Bobbitt now lives.

(This is a gift to William Bobbitt from Timothy Dalton, his maternal grandfather.)

Jan. 5. 1764 - Timothy Dalton and Elizabeth his wife of the county of Bedford and John Bobbitt of Halifax County for five shillings paid by John Bobbitt for 160 acres of land on the north side of the Pigg River being the Plantation whereon the said John Bobbitt now lives. (Also a gift.)

1767 - List of Tithables taken by John Donelson for Camden Parish in Pittsylvania County. Elizabeth Bobbitt and Negro Joe, James and William Bobbitt, and John Bobbitt. (Randolph Bobbitt was not listed as he was under 16 years of age.) 

1767 - Pittsylvania County was formed from Halifax County.

Mar. 25, 1767 - Lucy (Jones) Bobbitt wife of Thomas Bobbitt, deceased, of Sussex County, married Robert WynneThomas Bobbitt and Robert Wynne were first cousins. This marriage was recorded in Brunswick County, Marriage records 1730-1852.
