Apr. 3, 1788 - John Bobbitt of Sussex County, Virginia married Mary Gilliam.
Jul. 19, 1788 - Will of Lucy Bobbitt, probated on October 27, 1788. Will gives 100 acres of land to her youngest son, Randolph Bobbitt, adjoining her son William Bobbitt. Witness William Bobbitt and John Phelps qualified as executors.
Jan. 28, 1788 - William Bobbitt of Bedford County from William Leftwich, 259 acres on Mobley Creek in Bedford County. The Bobbitt family married into the Leftwich family, who were Quakers. One Bobbitt male of Bedford County was named Leftwich Bobbitt.
Feb. 5, 1788 - William Bobbitt is appointed overseer of a road passing by Craigs Perry. Montgomery County records, Book 11306. This is Captain William Bobbitt, son of James and Elizabeth Bobbitt of Pittsylvania County.

Sep. 28, 1789 - Survey for William Bobbitt of 290 acres, land treasury warrant for 5000 acres, number 10.9295 and dated Dec. 24, 1781. Platt Book F, page 41, Montgomery County records. Land was later in Grayson County.
Dec. 19, 1789 - James Bobbitt enters 397 acres of land on the south side of a branch of waters of Big Reed Island, the said branch empties into the river at the old ford of Reed island by virtue of a land office treasury warrant, also 1200 acres No. 4.341, dated 25th of March 1780. Montgomery County, Platt Book page 41, land in present day Carroll County.
1790 - This was the first year that the newly formed government of America, took a Federal Census of the population. Bobbitt families were recorded in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
