Email received from Max Lincoln Bobbitt:
"I'll put the new updated CD in the mail, it has all the sources listed and I think this may be my last one. I can't go out and do the research anymore. If I do receive any new information from my living family I'll pass it on to you. Use my work as you please. I just ask that you don't copyright it or sell it for profit. It was just done for the Bobbitt's and I had a great time doing it."
Max, thank you for 40+ years of genealogy information. The whole family appreciates it.

BIOGRAPHY
The history of the Bobbitt family in the U.S.A. starts with William Bobbitt, born in the Glamorganshire area of Wales.
William Bobbitt's Grave site is believe to be under the old Norfolk and Western Railroad Station in Petersburg, Virginia. The "Ferry Chapel" was a ferry boat area use to ferry people across the Appomattox River, there was a Chapel near the ferry used for a place of worship with a surrounding it. This is where William Bobbitt and his wife worshiped.
On October 27, 1673 William Bobbitt received a land grant from the King of England for 100 acres and this was the start of the Southern branch of the Bobbitt's in America.
The land was in Bristol Parish, Charles City County, Virginia.
Bristol Parish was established in 1642.
Prince George County was formed in 1703 from Charles City County
The land is in the present day Hopewell, Prince George County, Virginia.
The following is from a letter written by Alfred Fonzia Bobbitt of Bellevue, Nebraska in 1997.
In the days of yore, long ago, about four hundred years after a Bobet/Bobbitt ancestor immigrated from France to southern Wales and/or England; to about two hundred years after the "Wars of the Roses" (1455-1485) in which English princes of the house of York and the House of Lanchester fought each other for the kingship of Great Britain and further devastated Wales which had already been subjugated and annexed to England in 1284 as the "poorer cousins" in the British Empire; to a time about half century after the English poet and dramatist William Shakespeare (1564-1616) had reached his zenith and death; to the year 1673 when our immigrant ancestors William Bobbitt (1649-1703) and his new bride Johanna Sturdivant (ca.1675-ca.1715) departed Glamorganshire (County Glamorgan) in southern Wales via the Port of Cardiff and sailed the ocean blue for the Virginia Colony to began a new life in a primitive land which offered promises of riches, land, opportunities and more freedom.
History of the Bobbitt Family in Virginia
The first permanent English Colony was founded in Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. The new world's first English women and Africans came to Jamestown in 1619.
The area first know as Virginia was all the land from the East coast to beyond what is now Indiana. From the Canada in the North, South to the Georgia area. In the earliest years the land was governed by the Virginia Company of London England.
In 1624 the Company's charter was terminated and the colony became the manorial holdings of King James the 1st. In 1627 Governor George Yeardley began the system of granting land to persons who came to the Colony, this system permitted William Bobbitt of Wales to receive his 100 acres.
Eight states were formed in whole or in part from the ordinal Virginia territory, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.
The British ownership of the Virginia territory, based on its charter of 1609, had been given up to the United States by 1625 and areas of land known as Colonies were beginning to be formed, but still under the British rule.
Counties were formed from areas that were first called shires, in 1643, the first eight counties were,
Charles City,
Elizabeth City,
Henrico,
Isle of Wright (Originally Warrosquyoake renamed in 1637)
James City (Originally New Kent, from York in 1654)
Northamptom (Originally Accawmack renamed in 1642)
Warwick ( now City of New Port News (Originally Warwick River renamed in 1642)
York (Originally Charles River renamed in 1642)
The principle Counties from which the Bobbitt family began in Virginia were, Prince George, Charles City, Bedford, Pittsylvania, Halifax, and Lunenburg.
Prince George was formed from Charles City in 1754.
Bedford was formed from Lunenburg in 1754
Pittsylvania was formed from Halifax in 1767
Halifax was formed from Lunenburg in 1752
Lunenburg was formed from Brunswick in 1746
Brunswick was formed from Prince George in 1732
On June 25,1788 Virginia was admitted to the Union, in 1861 Virginia seceded from the Union.
On January 26, 1870 Virginia was re admitted to the Union.

Notes for JAMES BOBBITT, JR.:
James Bobbitt Jr. was the third son of James and Elizabeth Dalton Bobbitt.
He was not of age when his father wrote his will in 1761. He was born in1748. In 1767 a list of tithables counted James Bobbitt as living with his brother William. According to land deeds of the time, James and William lived on 240 acres of land on the south side of Pigg River in Pittsylvania County, near Frying Pan Creek. In 1768, William Bobbitt, brother of James, married Nancy McKENZIE (often called Ann). In 1775 a deed, recorded in 1778, William and James were living in Montgomery county in that section which is now called Carroll County. In 1782, they were listed on the Montgomery County tax lists. James was still living in the household of his brother in 1782, and probably until 1784. Tradition and circumstances indicate that he married Elizabeth McKenzie, the sister of William's wife, Nancy. James was 36, and his wife 29. The records show that the couple had only one son and three daughters. James Bobbitt Jr. served in the Revolutionary war under his brother Captain William Levi Bobbitt. The federal government set aside a large tract of land in Kentucky and Tennessee to be granted to men who served in the War. On October 27, 1798, James Bobbitt received 200 acres of land on Buck Creek in what was then Lincoln County, Kentucky and is today Pulaski County, in south central Kentucky, near the Daniel Boone National Forest (book 6,page 365). this land grant completely changed his life.
The first record of James Bobbitt outside Pittsylvania County was in Montgomery County , Virginia, in present-day Carroll County. "Survey for James Bobbitt, Dec. 7, 1782. 150 acres of land on Big Reed Island Creek, branch of New River." It was on this land that James and Elizabeth lived and where all their children were born. The land was located near the family of his brother Capt. William Bobbitt. Shortly after James Bobbitt received the land grant, he and his family moved to Pulaski County, Kentucky, James Levi Bobbitt married Rebecca Day in Grayson County Virginia in 1796, and was living in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1804.They lived with James and Elizabeth. There is no certain information about the children of James and Elizabeth. There is a possibility that the John Bobbitt living in Lincoln County, Kentucky in Crab Orchard may have been their son, but there is no proof.
Prior to 1774 the hole of Kentucky was one of the Counties of Virginia, called Fincastel County. In 1776 Fincastel was divided and the state of Kentucky as we known it today was formed into three counties ,Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln. In 1790 there was a further divisions, Pulaski County was formed in 1798 from Green and Lincoln Counties.

44. WILLIAM URIAH RODERICK5 BOBBITT (JOHN4, JAMES3, WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1)46 was born 1774 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, and died 1850 in Carthage, Laeke County, Mississippi. He married POLLY R. ALLY October 05, 1811 in Amherst County, Virginia, daughter of JOHN ALLY and UNKNOWN. She was born 1787 in Amherst County, Virginia, and died August 1837 in Carthage, Laeke County, Mississippi.
Notes for WILLIAM URIAH RODERICK BOBBITT:
William After his so Robert Roderick was born moved this family from Amherst County, Virginia to Lincoln County, Tennessee, but then soon moved once more to Tipton County, Tennessee where his other two children were born. Most of Uriah's brother and sisters remained in western Virginia and/or moved west into what is today West Virginia. Although many of the West Virginia Bobbitts fought in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War, some joined the Union Army. So we had brother fighting brothers and cousins fought cousins.
About 1833 while the Choctaw Indians were being removed from Mississippi to the Indian Territory, which became the State of Oklahoma in 1907, cheap Indian land became available and Uriah moved his family to Leak County, Mississippi, where his wife Polly died in 1834.
