Descendants of William Bobbitt, Sr.

The genealogy chart below contains a very extensive list of Bobbitts.  The research was done BEFORE John W. Bobbitt's book, The Bobbitt Family In America, was published in 1985 and BEFORE the Internet era.  The genealogist, Marvin Beatty, was in contact with John and much of the information listed came from John.  You will notice, that Marvin gives proper source credits.   However, Marvin did a lot of the research on his own... traveling, libraries, county seats, etc... the tedious rituals and enjoyment of research.  The Beatty family has many roots in Orange County, Indiana and so does my branch of the Bobbitt family.      

There is one discrepancy you will find in this chart regarding the following person:

14. ii. JOHN RICHARD BOBBITT, b. 1726, Prince Edward County Virginia; d. 1791, Warren County North Carolina.

The parents of John Richard Bobbitt are listed as Lewis Bobbitt and Elizabeth Moore.  This is not true.  Apparently, John W. Bobbitt and Marvin Beatty made a communication miscue when they were in contact with one another in the 1970's or John later found new information and published it in his book.  In any case, I state these facts only for the information of  'new' researchers and absolutely praise the work of both these fine men.
